Details: This is a self-directed driving tour of 20 locations in VT which have 19th century schoolgirl needlework samplers on view.
Twenty Vermont sites - museums, historical societies, and public libraries – will hold 20 sampler exhibits, arranged in a driving tour around Vermont. Visitors will see at least 6 Vermont samplers on view at each site - usually more than 6.
Many privately owned samplers, never seem in public before, will be on view for the very first time.
In cooperation with the State of Vermont's 250th Commemoration of the start of the American Revolution in 1775, the tour features samplers made by the descendants of Revolutionary War Veterans and showcases the values, artistry, and degrees of success of these families.
